Stay tuned for Details.

I, like you, am a vessel. Until the age of 14, I was a vessel of pure self: self-will, selfishness, self-promotion, self-indulgence, self-protection. Over time, though, I recognized that I had a couple of serious cracks I needed help patching up. And so, I cried out to God, and He repurposed me as a vessel of the Holy Spirit.

I set to work with my well-developed perfectionism and people-pleasing skills, patching the holes and mending the cracks (with the help of the Spirit, of course). Pretty impressive work, I might add. I went to college. Ping, ping, ping, a few more pits, but quickly patched. I got married. Ping, ping, ping, a few more chips, a bit more mending. We moved away from family. Ping! Had a baby. Ping, pang! Six children and 30 years later, I’ve become a veritable colander—patching impossible!

The truth about colanders is that they make terrible vessels. But they do effectively allow things to pass through. Through all my cracks, pits, fissures, and holes I want people to see the glory of the loving Lord and be encouraged. As we meet together, I hope you, too, will realize how God’s strength shines through you, even (maybe especially) in your weaknesses. I look forward to meeting and fellowshipping with you.

Hid in the righteousness of Christ,

Lauren Mayer
